Hospitals Team Up for
Rehab Services in Zeeland

People from Holland, Zeeland, Hudsonville and other nearby communities now have a convenient new place to take advantage of Holland Hospital’s comprehensive rehabilitation services: Zeeland Community Hospital (ZCH).

The two hospitals recently entered into partnership whereby rehab specialists from Holland Hospital provide services at the Zeeland hospital. Earlier this year, ZCH opened its state-of-the-art rehab center, which is part of its new facility at Felch Street and Chicago Drive (M-21) in Zeeland. Both hospitals share responsibility for providing ongoing support for the services, which include:

orthopaedic rehabilitation
physical therapy
post-surgical rehab
speech therapy
spinal rehab
sports rehab

Tim Heemstra, a physical therapist with Holland Hospital, works with cancer patient Matt Kamps to improve his gait and range of motion following a bone graft in his leg. The Hudsonville resident receives outpatient rehabilitation services at Zeeland Community Hospital.

The first-time partnership is a win-win situation for both hospitals and patients, says Dale Sowders, president and CEO of Holland Hospital. "The Zeeland program is the eighth location listed among our current rehab centers," he notes. "It provides both hospitals with the opportunity to better meet the needs of the Holland-Zeeland community with a high-quality rehabilitation services network."

Services are provided on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Zeeland Rehabilitation Services is open weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in Suite 101 of the ZCH Medical Office Building. For referrals or more information, call (616) 772-5795.
