For nearly 30 years, the Hospital’s Volunteer Auxiliary has conducted its Light of Love campaign, securing hundreds of thousands of dollars for hospital programs and services over the years. This year, the campaign again received tremendous support from the community, employees and volunteers by raising over $13,500 in contributions.
This campaign supports the purchase of items that enhance the care and comfort of patients and their families but are not typically included in a department's budget. This year, the Auxiliary was able to purchase items for two departments. The Emergency Department received a hospital-grade recliner for family members or friends who are staying by a patient’s side, while the surgical services department received a blanket warmer to provide comfort and promote healing in surgical patients.
Gifts like these keep giving throughout the years. Items that have been purchased in past years include the Lucas Chest Compression System, AccuVein digital vein display device, rocking chairs for pediatric patients, and special magnetic infant gowns.
"We are truly thankful for each donation received for the campaign both this year and in years past." states Barb Tenpas, Volunteer Auxiliary President, "It enables the hospital to provide an additional touch of care to those we serve."
The campaign began December 2014 and continued into January 2015. To learn more click ‘Donate’ at the top of the page.
