HOLLAND, Mich., Jan. 26, 2024 — Holland Hospital announces that it ranks #1 in Michigan in key specialties, including top rankings in Surgical Care and Orthopedic Surgery, according to new research released by Healthgrades.

The top rankings, along with Holland Hospital’s recent achievements including America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Surgical Care Award™, America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery Award™ and America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement Award™, reflect the hospital’s ongoing commitment to provide the best care possible and distinguish Holland Hospital as one of Michigan’s leading hospitals for specialty care.

“These rankings reflect our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional health care, and I am immensely proud of our dedicated team whose passion and excellence continue to bring this high-level care to our community,” said Holland Hospital CEO Patti VanDort.

Healthgrades evaluates hospitals on patient outcomes to determine the top-performing hospitals for specialty care in each of the 32 states assessed. Healthgrades’ 2024 analysis revealed that patients who seek care at a hospital with rankings in their condition or procedure have a better chance of a good outcome, which highlights the importance of selecting a top-rated program.

From 2020 to 2022, patients treated at hospitals that received a state ranking for Orthopedic Surgery had, on average, a 44.4% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated at hospitals that were not state ranked for Orthopedic Surgery.*

Among the top contributing factors to Holland Hospital’s success is its superior workforce, which has earned West Michigan’s Best & Brightest Companies to Work For award for 21 years in a row—more than any other hospital. Additionally, Holland Hospital is the only hospital in West Michigan to receive a 5-star rating every year since 2016 when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) began its overall quality rating system.
