Two scholarship opportunities are now open to area high school and college students

HOLLAND, Mich., Feb. 1, 2024 — Holland Hospital is calling on area high school and college students to apply for two health care-focused scholarships, including the Holland Hospital Volunteer Council Health Care Scholarship and the Holland Hospital RN Scholarship Program.

2024 marks 16 years of awarding the Holland Hospital Volunteer Council Health Care Scholarship, which to date has awarded a total of $169,500. The scholarship, which is funded directly by Holland Hospital employees through various fundraisers and programs, is awarded to up to six recipients at an event that will take place in May.

“Holland Hospital is proud to continue investing in tomorrow's health care professionals through our annual scholarships,” shared Megan Cadle, lead volunteer coordinator at Holland Hospital. “It’s an investment in the health of our communities, and we look forward to the future and positive effects these students’ work will create.”

Students interested in applying for the Holland Hospital Volunteer Council Health Care Scholarship must be enrolled full-time or part-time in an accredited college health care program and actively taking classes within 12-18 months of graduation. Programs eligible for the scholarship may include social work, lab technology, nursing, dentistry, radiology, medical school, and physical or occupational therapy.

Holland Hospital also awards several scholarships to high school students who are interested in nursing specifically through the Holland Hospital RN Scholarship Program. For over 20 years the scholarship has granted over $200,000 to students whose ambition is to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at an accredited institution.

“Our scholarship committee is humbled and proud to support the journey of our scholarship awardees,” said Liz Ott, RN nurse recruiter at Holland Hospital. “We are confident the recipients will make a significant impact on the health care field, and we are honored to be a part of their journeys.”

Through this scholarship, each year, Holland Hospital awards $7,000 to recipients which is paid out in four increments over their four-year BSN degree in which funds can be used for tuition, class fees, and room and board. To apply for the RN Scholarship Program, the student must be a high school senior residing in the Holland Hospital service area who is planning to enter a four-year BSN program in the fall of 2024.

Holland Hospital is pleased to continue providing scholarship opportunities to students as they embark on their educational journeys and give back to the community.

Applications are due on February 29 for the Holland Hospital Volunteer Council Health Care Scholarship and on March 16 for the Holland Hospital RN Scholarship Program. Specific details regarding residency, eligibility and application requirements for each scholarship are available online.
